Annex III. INSPIRE Dataset for Species distribution Theme

INSPIRE dataset for Species Distribution theme represents actual information about protected species (species of plants, mushroom, animals, birds, etc.) distribution in the territory of Lithuania.

Due to the sensitivity and importance of data, information about protected species is summarised and aggregated by 10 km grid cells. The number of individuals in a grid cell is indicated. Data values are coded according to international classification.

The SD.ProtectedSpecies layer is shown at a scale of 1: 500 000.

Statement: INSPIRE dataset for Species Distribution theme is created using state information system of Protected species data in Lithuania. State Service for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania is the manager of data. Mininstry of Environment is the manager of state information system.

The purpose of the information system is to collect and systematize data about protected species and their habitats and make it available to interested parties.

Due to sensitivity and importance of data, input data of protected species is summarised and aggregated by 10 km grid cells in the result data set. The number of individuals in grid cell is indicated. Data values are coded according to international classification.

The output data set is created by State Enterprise GIS-Centras, Lithuania.
